Photo Imaging Group
The Photo Imaging Group has lost its meeting location and currently, no future meetings are plannned. At the last meeting in October, attendance was good as a few members of the Boise Camera Club joined us and even one attendee had found us on the Internet! Clint spent about an hour showing the
use of some of the new features in JASC's new Paint Shop Pro 9
which brings the power of Photoshop CS and Photo-Paint to a consumer
priced product. Those who want to
stay for the second hour, the classroom will remain open for hands-on
with the computers there. For more information on PSP 9, be
sure to check out Clint's article Paint
Shop Pro 9.
The September 13th meeting meeting found us diving into the wonderful new features of Digitial Image Pro 10 which includes new tools for digital magic such as histograms and color/luminance channel adjustments. Clint spent a fair part of the meeting showing off the new Panoramic feature stitching together a group of 4 photos which he had taken this spring on a trip north of Mountain Home. His instructions included using the selection tools along with other new tools and a look at the tutorial videos in version 10.
Another resource you'll want to check is the Table of Resources presented at the July meeting.
At the May 17th Meeting, we watched a informative video from
softwareCINEMA showing several photo techniques including using layers
with Photoshop. Focusing on using layers to light candles in a photo, Clint showed how use Paint Shop Pro 8, Photoshop Elements 2.0
and Digital Image Pro 9 to accomplish similar effects. The files to practice those effects can be downloaded: Candle Flame.

Andrea Fisher and Clint Tinsley are the co-leaders for the group. Andrea has worked extensively with Digital Image Pro 9 Suite. Clint Tinsley has been an Adobe user for several years and is well versed in Photoshop Elements 2. Doug & Ruth Parsons have been using Adobe products to compose their web site for Boise Foundry as well as prepare their catalog for publication and are quite familar with the Photoshop products on which Photoshop Elements 2 is based.
The first meeting was on February 16th, at 7PM with 19 in attendance, every chair was filled. A lot was learned on importing, resolution and basic fixing of photos along a demo of using Layers. On March 15th, Andrea Fisher lead off with her Digital Imaging 9 tips and tricks in doing similar tasks as well as special features found in that program. Clint also demonstrated on how to do the same layer effects in Digital Image Pro 9 that he had demonstrated the previous meeting in Photoshop Elements.
Our goals are to learn how to use our computers and software to digitally obtain photos from Camera’s and Scanners as well as enhance those photos in various ways including the fixing up and restoration of photos along with creating photographic albums, montages, and other collections. The meetings are hands on as much as possible so that you can immediately apply what is being demonstrated.
