Photoshop Elements is said to take over from where Photoshop LE left off as LE was a real stripped down version
of Photoshop with a very limited feature set although they both share the Photshop user interface. It does not
replace PhotoDeluxe which has built in templates for print media and a different feature set. In a face off with
Paint Shop Pro, depending on the skills of the user, it would be a difficult match to call as both products have
their strengths. Corel Photo-Paint, like Paint Shop Pro would be a difficult call in the hands of an experienced
user. One place Photoshop Elements blows away the competition is in the File Browser feature as it is integrated
into the program as a Photoshop palette and not a separate function of the file menu.
In my opinion, PhotoDraw comes up a bit short of the mark on most counts in comparison with Photoshop Elements.
PhotoDraw was a “me too” who’s main claim to fame is its integration with Microsoft Office.
As an animation tool, you can do create and save animated gifs for the web using Photoshop Elements but there are
better tools available for this.
