The January 2003 IPCUG CDOM (CD of the Month) features the latest updates for Office 2000 (Service Pack 3) and OfficeXP along with the latest 2.0 Windows Installer. Also included are the latest Adobe Acrobate Readers 5.1 (standard and full versions) along with Netsacpe 7.01 (released 12/09/2002) and a number of useful utilities. Following up on Al Hale's presentation of VirtualCD, we have a roundup of 3 VirtualCD programs. On installable programs you will be prompted to open or save the "downloaded" file. You should "open" the file from its location in order for the installer to automatically run.
Acrobat Reader 5.1 - Contains 2 versions of Acrobat Reader. When installing Acrobat Reader version 5 or later, you should always uninstall any previous versions including 4 and 5, as removing it later will require that you reinstall the current version as well.

o AcroReader51_ENU_full - Version 5.1 of the Acrobat Reader with search capabilities.Netscape 7.01 - The latest offering of this powerful internet browser. Netscape 7.01 Installer.

Recommend you install this first before installing any of the Office programs listed below.
Office 2000 - Both of these updates require that you have updated to Office2000 Service Release 1. 1Two Version of this High Powered Windows Configuration Tool. Both do basically the same thing but the later version has been updated and has a later version of the "L" information database.

MD5 - A very useful program that runs in Windows and allows you to calculate the MD5 checksum of an .iso (CD Image) file after downloading to validate it as an error free download (At least, that's the plan.)
Smoothwall - This is .iso for Smoothwall 1.0 which free for personal use. Smoothwall is Linux based "Firewall" which makes a very good dial-up (dial on demand as well as continually connected) server as it can provide Internet connectivity for multiple computers in a household which includes unique DHCP IP addresses for each computer as well as domain name services. I use this in my "lab" at home so that I don't have to have separate modems for each computer and it is "plug and play" once the Smoothwall "server" is running. It is administered via web browser. Hardware requirements are pretty minimal, a 486 and 32 Megs of Ram (64 Recommended). Installation and Configuration PDF files are also found in the Smootwall folder. Using a program such as Roxio or other ".iso" aware program, you must "burn" a CD from this iso before using.
WinLinux 2000 - Free Version of WinLinux (circa 199) as demonstrated at the November Meeting; Installs as a Windows executable, no special partitioning needed and can be configured from Windows.
FreeZip - Free Windows Zip program, no nag screens like with WinZip and others.
FTP Commander - Very Good FTP File Transfer program and Free! No Nags!
Slide - Free Windows Slide Changer program. From FreeZip!
PowerPointViewer97 - I keep getting requests for this free PowerPoint Viewer from Microsoft.
