IPCUG Logo  April 2003 CD of the Month

The April 2003 IPCUG CDOM (CD of the Month) is a collection of Audio/Media Players and Audio File Converters along File & System Utilities, and an Outlook Helper.

Also on the CD is this auto-play browser based index to the CD. The hyperlinks in each section will run the installer for the program being described. On installable programs you will be prompted to open or save the "downloaded" file. You should "open" the file from its location in order for the installer to automatically run.

CDEX 1.5 Beta - Release in February offers new functionality and improved speed. http://www.cdex.n3.net  Free. You must copy this folder to your hard drive and then create an icon (shortcut) to the CDex.exe found in the folder Cdex15.

Audio Edit 3.3 - Audio Edit is a graphical full featured WAV and MP3 Editor/Recorder. Shareware $15

Exact Audio Copy 0.9 - "Audio Grabber" for creating MP3's from CD's with lots of features. Cardware! http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/  Requires Lame.exe which was not on the CD.  You can download Lame.exe from here by clicking on this link and saving it to your Windows directory.  Then copy eac.exe, located in the \Audio\ExctAudC\ directory on the CD, to a known location on your C drive (\Windows\Temp would be a good choice.)  Then go to where you copied it and click on eac.exe to do the actual installation.

GoldWave Version 4.26 - A comprehensive digital audio editor/recorder.  Support multiple audio file formats and conversions.  Shareware, cost is $45.  More information at www.goldwave.com

On the CD made available to the membership at the IPCUG Meeting of 4/10/2003, the above links do not point correctly to in the installation files for the firewall programs.  To install either of these programs, you must open the \Firewall folder on the CD-ROM and then click on spf.exe to install the personal edition or pspf.exe to install the professional version.

Programmer's File Editor - Free Multi-file text editor that can handle large files.  You must copy this folder to your hard drive and then create an icon (shortcut) to the pfe32.exe found in the folder.

Total Uninstall v 2.33 - Freeware.  Program creates a before and after "snapshot" of your computer, allowing you to see what the program actually does plus providing for the restoration of your computer to its previous state, prior to installing a program.
